RTA taxi (government) are the cheapest option, the metro is available but offers highly limited routes, so renting a car is also good option if you are a confident driver.

1. Dubai Miracle garden
Dubai Miracle garden is a floral theme park with over 150 million flowers, arranged into castles, cartoon characters, giant teddy bears and even an Emirates A380 plane covered entirely. Spanning 72,000 square metres, Dubai Miracle Garden is exactly what Dubai does best; create something beyond immagination.
It features cafes, parades, shops and restaurants. Make sure you take your camera and allow a few hours for this one! It’s also very family friendly and suitable for all ages.
Be sure to check dates as the garden reopens for the winter season each year on October 1st, and entry will cost you around AED 100. It’s best to visit in the morning or late afternoon when the sun isn’t in full force! You can book your ticket here.
2. Museum of the future
The Museum of the Future is one of Dubai’s many architectural masterpieces.
This fully immersive museum is a mind-blowing space where innovation, technology, and futuristic ideas come together to show us what the world could look like in 50 years.
The journey starts with a simulated rocket ship journey that launches you decades into the future, in the year 2071. Once you disembark the “ship”, you explore several themed floors that cover everything from space exploration to climate change.
It’s interactive, super creative and in some parts, surprisingly emotional when thinking about the possibilities of the future. It’s smart without being boring and exciting without being gimmicky, which is a rare combo.
I’d recommend setting aside at least half a day to visit the Museum of the Future if you want to see it properly. Tickets cost AED 168 and you’ll want to book in advance as it does sell out. You can book here.
3. Global Village
Global Village usually opens mid-october until mid-April for the winter season. The park is made up of pavilions from over 90 countries, each showing off their own cultural food, products and performances. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Downtown Dubai.
One minute you’re buying Turkish delight and the next you’re watching a Bollywood dance show or grabbing a Korean corn dog. There are over 200 food stalls and restaurants scattered throughout, so be sure to arrive hungry and challenge yourself to eat a starter, main and dessert from three different countries.
It’s not just about the food either. There’s live entertainment happening around every corner, from stunt shows to concerts, and if you’re travelling with kids (or just love an adrenaline rush), there are a bunch of fairground rides too.
Entry is super affordable – entry prices start from AED 25. It usually opens at 4PM or 5PM depending on the month, and i’d advise getting there then as usually the crowds hit at 7pm and it gets very busy especially on weekends. Be sure to check the schedule as well as often at weekends there are special entertainment shows. You can book here.
Top things to do mid-range cost: (above AED 150/$40)
1. The view at the palm
240 metres above ground on level 52 of The Palm Tower, this is one of the best spots to take in the full scope of Dubai’s beauty – from the perfectly manicured palm-shaped island to the endless skyline and Arabian Gulf.
Standard tickets to The View at The Palm start from AED 108, which gets you access to level 52.
But if you’d rather avoid the crowds and level up the experience, go for a fast-track ticket paired with an Italian 3 course lunch from AED 325. That gets you up to level 54 as well, which is less crowded and has clearer panoramic views with fewer railings.
2. Quad biking or Dune bugging with Sand boarding
If you’re looking for an activity where you can truly let loose and kick up some dust, a Quad Biking Tour in the Arabian Desert is the one. I booked mine online here and spent the afternoon soaring across red sand dunes feeling like some kind of desert-bound action hero.
You don’t need a licence or any previous experience to drive these bikes – just a bit of confidence and ideally, dark clothing because you will end up covered in sand. Bring a scarf to wrap around your head to protect your hair and mouth otherwise you can buy one there.
3. Spend the day at a beach club at Palm West beach
Palm west beach is located in Palm Jumeriah and offers over 20 beach clubs to choose from. From these beach clubs you have magnificent views of Dubai marina skyline as well as fine dining food options; music and a laidback vibe. One of my personal favourites is Playa Dubai; offering Peruvian food. However, you can also find french, greek, mexican, seafood and many other beach clubs offering a variety of cuisines to your taste.
4. Jet Skiing with Burj Al Arab views
Super-affordable for Dubai standards but offering a thrill with scenic backdrops, I highly recommend Jet-Skiing in Dubai. You can drive around the Palm jumeriah or Burj Al arab. If you’re looking for something a bit different, you can also opt to rent a jet-car (very Dubai!) though they are harder to drive than a Jet-ski for sure but perfect for a couple.

5. Relieve your youth at House of Hype
Tucked inside Dubai Mall, House of Hype is totally visual.
It’s an indoor playground packed with interactive games, multi-sensory rooms, arcade classics, neon-lit tunnels, secret spaces and surprises around every corner.
What I loved most was that it’s not just somewhere to take a few photos and leave. You’re fully involved – you’ll be scanning your wristband, playing games to earn points, uncovering secret doors and trying to score prizes.
It’s made for all ages, so you can bring the kids or just come with your friends and have a laugh. Entry starts from around AED 140, which includes access to over 100 experiences. Get tickets online here.
6. The Lost World Aquarium at Atlantis the Palm
If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret underwater city, The Lost world Aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm fully delivers. It’s included in your stay if you’re a guest at any of the Atlantis hotels (along with Aquaventure Waterpark, which is also amazing), but non-hotel guests can get tickets for AED 135 here.
Inside, you’ll wander through a maze of tunnels and tanks filled with over 65,000 marine animals. They recently renovated the aquarium in winter 2025; to include shows of underwater mermaids and modern technology.
There are sharks, rays, jellyfish, lobsters and much more marine life. Whether you’re into marine life or are looking to entertain your little ones for a few hours in blissfully cool air conditioning, it’s absolutely worth a visit.
7. At the top at Burj Khalifa
At 456 meters high, there is no better view of Dubai. The lift gets you to the 124th floor in under a minute (that’s a speed of 10 metres per second!), my ears were still popping by the time I stepped out onto the observation deck. The views are absolutely unreal. You can see the whole of Downtown Dubai, the Dubai Fountain below and the endless desert stretching out in the distance.I’d recommend booking your slot for around 5pm. That way, you get to see the city in daylight, catch the golden hour glow and then watch everything light up after sunset. Book in advance as sunset slots do sell out.
If you’re happy with stunning views and don’t mind a few crowds, the standard ticket to Levels 124 & 125 is great value for AED 150 per person, but if you want a quieter experience (with even higher views), go for the SKY Level ticket to Level 148 (this also includes 124 & 125).
8. Aura Skypool at St. Regis the Palm
If you’re thinking of spending any time at the pool in Dubai, definitely make sure it’s this one. At 200 meters in the sky, Aura skypool is the highest 360 degrees infinity pool in the world. When booking you get to choose which view you want, however, don’t fear as you can swim around the whole pool for the 360 degree views of Dubai; palm jumeriah, dubai marina, city view & burj al arab.
Bookings are done in 3-4 hour time slots as early as 6am until 11pm. Having been both day and night time, I highly recommend the afternoon slot as the views are much better in the daytime. Definitely book at least a month in advance; or you may not get much choice as it books up well in advance. Prices start from AED 225 per person depending on seating options.
9. Lunch at Pierchic for the perfect Burj Al Arab views on the water
This is my favourite lunch across Dubai. Pier chic is set along a pier facing the Burj al arab at the stunning Jumeriah Al Qasr hotel. Offering a fine dining italian menu; the food and the views are not to be missed. You can also avail business lunch on weekdays which works out superb value from AED 160 per person.
10. La Perle by Dragone evening show at Habtoor
This is a perfect way to spend an evening in Dubai – with a spectacular show located in Habtoor city in business bay. It is a live aqua show with aerial stunts and visual storytelling. You can choose seats according to your budget however, there are only 14 rows across 1,300 seats so you’re guaranteed to be close to the action. Since it’s based in a hotel, you can buy alcoholic drinks as well as soft drinks and snacks before and during the show. You can get your tickets here.
Top luxury things to do: (above AED 300/$80)
1. Dubai desert safari – platinum heritage ($$$) including an overnight stay (optional)
If I had to recommend just one activity to book for your trip to Dubai, this would be it. The Platinum Heritage Desert Safari is a magical experience that starts in the afternoon, with you being whisked off into the desert in a vintage 1960’s Land Rover.
You’ll cruise through the dunes on a 60-minute nature safari where we spotted camels, oryx, gazelles, and even a desert lizard. Our guide shared loads of interesting facts about the local culture and heritage.
As the sun began to set, we pulled up in our Land Rovers to a little oasis within the desert, adorned with bean bags and carpets. We were handed ice-cold drinks and treated to an epic sunset falcon show. You then have dinner at the main camp, with local dancers and a star-gazing activity. I highly recommend also opting for the overnight stay if you can to experience authentic bedouin desert life.
This is hands down my favourite experience in Dubai and one of the best things to do in Dubai. 2. Immersive AI gastronomic dinner
Dubai offers so many options when it comes to fine dining, but something that is very unique and not to be missed is a dinner with an experience. My personal favourites are Krasota, located in Downtown Dubai. They have 3 experiences; imaginary Art, imaginerary Future or imaginary Russia. 3. Cloud 22 at Atlantis, The Royal for the ultimate pool day experience
Perched 96 metres above Palm Jumeirah on the 22nd floor of Atlantis The Royal (9th best hotel in the world currently) , Cloud 22 is not just another sky pool.
